Bamboo Flooring: It's a grass, not a tree!

Bamboo flooring is a great product that has gained popularity over the years, and is now often installed in place of conventional wood flooring.   Bamboo is a giant grass that's very strong. It's one of the fastest-growing plants in the world, a culm (stalk) of bamboo is ready to harvest in only 5-7 years, depending on use. Bamboo is often grown without the use of pesticides and herbicides, and with minimal fertilizer input.

Bamboo flooring comes in several varieties: Strip-layered and Strand / woven.  Strip-layered is the classic form of Bamboo Flooring in which many strips of bamboo are layed parallel to each other to create sheets and flooring.  Strand, or woven bamboo is comprised of random chunks of bamboo compressed together under high pressure, which creates a product that has twice the hardness and durability of traditional strip-layered constructtion.  Bamboo Flooring is available in both Solid and engineered / floating floors..  Bamboo is durable, dimensionally stable, and able to fit into any budget.
