ECO RAMBLINGS

Eureka!
We have great news to share! After a tumultuous few months of searching, we have found a new location. We are delighted to announce that we are moving to 719 Swift Street, between Hotline Wetsuits and Habitat for Humanity's new ReStore. If you haven't ventured into this area, you'll find it's a neighborhood that has many great things going on.
A little about the process: we tried hard to find a place near mid-town, convenient from both directions off Highway 1. Unfortunately, there wasn't anything available mid-town that met our needs. So, we're opting for the hip, burgeoning Westside. We are excited about our new neighbors who will include incredible bakeries, an organic beer brewery, wineries, boutiques, a yarn shop, the new Farm Feed store, and Illuminee Lighting Showroom. Plus, we will be just blocks from West Cliff Drive. We know that it will be more of a schlep for you south-county folks, but we hope the charms of the neighborhood will help make up for the drive (or bike ride).
Our goal is to have all the essential greenspace components into our new space by October 1st, where we plan to be moved in and ready to mix paint. Anyone who has done business with us this summer will know what a relief and joy it will be to have all our goods under one roof again.
If you are interested in helping with preparations or moving, we'd love some extra hands. We are planning to paint this Saturday, September 22nd, 10 am - 5 pm, then move in the following weekend, September 29th & 30th, all day both days. Surely there will be some delicious goodies from the neighborhood to snack on, too!
Most importantly, we're planning a Grand Re-Opening Potluck Celebration on Friday, October 19th, from 5-8 p.m.! Save the date if you can.
For the next couple of weeks we will be busy preparing, so customer service may be sketchy. Please bear with us as we assemble displays, re-stock, hire, and so much more. We look forward to doing business with you for many years to come!

Second Annual National Plug In Day (NPID)
Sunday, Sept. 23 from 12:00-3:00 p.m.
Staff of Life parking lot
1266 Soquel Ave., Santa Cruz
NPID is a national outreach and educational event with a target of 60 cities participating across the country. Plug In America, Electric Auto Association and the Sierra Club are the national sponsors, with the Monterey Bay Electrical Vehicle Alliance (MBEVA) and the Central Coast Chapter of the Electric Auto Association leading the local event.
Local dealers will display their EVs, and there will also be EV owners to talk to the public about their vehicles. At 1:30 p.m., there will be a short program where Michael McCormick from Governor Brown's office will make some brief remarks. The MBEVA will award certificates of recognition to property owners (in the Monterey Bay area) that have EV charging stations. The City of Santa Cruz's Mayor, Don Lane, will read a proclamation which applies in all the Santa Cruz cities and county. Test drives of several electric vehicles will be featured.

318 Union Street, Watsonville
Green building professionals can help create an opportunity for students and others interested in green building careers. You can host a table, sponsor a student to attend, sponsor the event, meet and network with other business owners and colleagues. Students (free entry!) and emerging professionals will consider community colleges, trade schools, universities and graduate schools with environmental studies and high-performance building programs. These training programs are doing a great job of creating a pool of local green collar workers.
We are gathering to introduce emerging students to businesses and programs with the goal of keeping this wonderful talent in our community. We will share insights on current industry issues and must-have career skills to be competitive in this market.
