American Clay: Porcelina Our smoothest plaster provides the artisan with an opportunity to create traditional opulent Old World marble smooth surfaces. Capturing the architectural wonder and durability of Venetian lime plasters, Porcelina lends a silky polished sheen to once bland wall surfaces without the laborious and hazardous sanding required of acrylic/lime and gypsum finishes. Whether applied with a sleek hard- troweled finish, burnished for greater depth or layered, blended with color and waxed, Porcelina is the answer for elegant Italianesque or Contemporary walls. Porcelina can be hand-troweled or sprayed on.No sanding is require to achieve the "honed marble" smoothness--simply burnish Porcelina with a plastic trowel. Apply Porcelina over a base coat of American Clay Loma. Prior plastering experience is recommended for Porcelina, and American Clay classes are recommended for learning special effects like Venetian effect described above. Because this plaster goes on thinner, it costs about the same per square foot as our Loma.
